Several SPS trainers took part in First Aid Training, delivered by Ash Smith recently. Our roles put us all in positions of responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of fellow staff and visitors, including learners and, as such, First Aid training equips us with the essential skills and confidence to handle emergencies in a timely and effectively manner, ensuring a safer environment for everyone.
It was a pleasure to be taught by Ash whose experience and expertise was clearly demonstrated as he skilfully managed trainers and admin staff with a range of first aid experience (from novice to proficiency) to gain knowledge with practical activities to achieve the qualification. In essence, Ash’s caring and inclusive approach ensured that we all left feeling accomplished and more capable of carrying out our duty of care; having covered various themes including:
- CPR and AED usage
- Wound care
- Choking interventions
- Shock management
On behalf of all the participants, I would like to express gratitude to Ash for guiding us to incorporate these valuable personal and professional skills to our repertoire and for the offer of ongoing support in this area. I highly recommend this one-day course and, anyone who is interested in taking up this opportunity, should contact Ash Smith or Jo Giles.
